Who Not How

"Don’t equate delegation with laziness. It’s not delegating when you don’t care—it’s delegating so you can focus on what you do care about."

- Tim Ferriss

The Entrepreneur’s Curse

When running your own business, you are forced to wear a ton of different “hats.” You’re responsible for having a vision for the business, the strategy to implement it, and the financials figured out to make it viable. You are now head of sales, marketing, product development, customer service, and on top of that you have to continue to learn in order to best serve your clients. Don’t forget to stay on top of the paradigm shifting developments in technology. AI is here – either ride the wave or get crushed by it.

Book Recommendation: Who Not How by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy

Who Not How presents a transformative approach to achieving goals and driving personal and professional growth. The core premise of the book is that individuals and organizations often stall or fail to reach their objectives not because they lack ideas or motivation, but because they get stuck asking the wrong question. They ask "How can I do this?" instead of the more powerful question, "Who can help me do this?"

Who Not How offers a paradigm shift away from the solitary pursuit of goals through personal effort, advocating instead for a collaborative approach that leverages the strengths and capabilities of others. This not only leads to greater success and fulfillment but also fosters a culture of teamwork and shared achievement.

Personal Takeaways

I’ve quickly learned that applying the principles or “who not how” have gotten me “out of the weeds” within my business, the things that bog my spirit down, by delegating these “heavy” things. I now effortlessly jump from one thing to the next throughout my day like a frog whimsically jumping from one lilypad to the next. If the work you focus on stirs you, your days will be much more fulfilling.  Read the book if you want a more in depth look into the concept OR take action today and give something on your plate to someone else who might embrace the task. Create your team.

Someone once told me to write down all the things I don’t enjoy within the business and then just hire someone to do those things. Five years later, and this person is still working with me, and I have not put one ounce of my brain to that side of the business since.

Hilarious Note

David (aka The Wizard) and I thought it would be fun to buy the What Not Who domain four months ago. We are firm believers in the coming wave of AI. Not sure we will do anything with it or just sell it. Time will tell!
